Namrataa Kripallani, a MahaVastu practitioner and painter, runs a Vastu consultancy called New Age Magic in Pune. Her forte as a Vastukar is that she rectifies Vastu doshas through her spiritual art and paintings. Here, Kripallani suggests the most popular Vastu paintings to hang in your residence or office that will add an aesthetic of abundance.

In Vastu Shastra, the 7 horses Vastu paintings are considered to be a symbol of strength, prosperity, progress and success. The seven horses are seen as representing the seven chakras in an aura, and the painting is said to promote balance and harmony in all aspects of one's life.

The painting has white horses running in the water with blue skies; hang it in the north-west only, to attract luck and prosperity. If the painting is of horses running in the sand and has sunset colours, hang it on a southern wall, for career, growth, and fame.

If you are looking for a way to improve your life and make a new start, hang a waterfall painting in your home or office in the north, east or north-east. “Water is a tricky element, only choose a landscape which evokes serenity and joy, avoid waterfalls which seem dark and have depth, as they may make you feel moody,” the Mahavastukar suggests.

Mountains are said to represent the strength of terra firma, and its painting is said to provide a sense of stability and security to its owner. The best direction to hang rocky and brown mountains is the south-west, as long as no still or flowing water body is in it. If the mountains are green and have waterfall or water in any form, they can be placed in the north-east for calm and serenity, or east direction of the house, to improve social connections.

A painting of multicoloured flowers in a blue vase hung in the east, is a popular Vastu remedy, to bring joy and happiness. Universally, bright and colorful floral artwork can lift the energy of any room. Place flower paintings on a wall that faces north, east, or northeast direction.

The tree of life finds mention in many religions, including Judaism and Christianity. In Hinduism, it is the kalpavriksha, or wish fulfilling tree. Place it in the west, which is the direction associated with manifestation, or on your office table as desk art, to help achieve your goals with ease.

Vastu also associates Kamdhenu, India’s holy cow, with wish fulfillment. The ideal direction to place a Kamadhenu painting is in the north-east, east-of-north-east (ENE) or east-of-south-east (ESE). This brings peace in your home and invites growth and prosperity in life. Kamdhenu is also associated with wish-fulfillment in Vastu Shastra. It removes all the hurdles and obstacles in your life. An ideal place to hang this painting is east of southeast.

We live in a generation that is attention deficit and Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, may help you focus as you struggle with screen time. A portrait of Saraswati should ideally be hung in west-of-south-west (WSW), or maybe the north-east. “Saraswati provides the acumen for mastery over any skill one is pursuing,” Kripallani says.
